Daniel Rutstrom awarded Best Student Presentation at SCINT 2022

Daniel Rutstrom received Best Oral Student Presentation at the 2022 International Conference on Scintillating Materials & their Applications (SCINT) for his presentation “Development of Novel Ultrafast Inorganic Scintillators.”  The conference is an international conference series on scintillating materials and their applications. This year’s conference was held September 19-23, 2022 in Santa Fe, New Mexico and addressed the needs and development of scintillators for fundamental research, health, environment, energy, industrial applications and radiography.

Daniel’s co-authors of the winning presentation include Luis Stand, Scintillation Materials Research Center; Maciej Kapusta, Siemens Medical Solutions; Jaroslaw Glodo, Radiation Monitoring Devices; Edgar van Loef, Radiation Monitoring Devices; Ghanshyam Pilania, UTK Department of Nuclear Engineering and Steven Hartman, UTK Department of Nuclear Engineering. Daniel is a Ph.D student in the Materials Science and Engineering Department and a Graduate Research Assistant of Dr. Mariyah Zhuravleva and Dr. Charles Melcher, both co-authors of the presentation, in the Scintillation Materials Research Center at UT in Knoxville.
