Mandrus Awarded $1,700,000 Grant from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation

Professor David Mandrus in the Materials Science & Engineering Department has been awarded a grant from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation in the amount of $1,700,000.  This grant is part of the foundation’s Emergent Phenomena in Quantum Systems Initiative (EPiQS), which strives to deepen our understanding of the organizing principles that lead to complex collective behaviors of electrons in materials and engineered structures.   Prof. Mandrus received a similar 5-year grant in August, 2014 from the foundation.  This new grant recognizes the accomplishments of the past five years and positions him to further the materials discovery process in the years to come.
