Tau Beta Pi invited engineering clubs and organizations to organize exhibits and competitions for visiting high school students on Engineer’s Day held October 27, 2022. Material Advantage was awarded 2nd place for their exhibit which included a monetary prize.
The organization’s exhibit demonstrated coating coins in gold, looking at crystals using a polarized light microscope, using UV light to see the scintillation properties of crystals and performing tensile testing on several different materials. A large part of the exhibit included a tour of the Scintillation Materials Research Center (SMRC.)
