MSE Student and Faculty Honored with Provost’s Awards

Three members of the Materials Science & Engineering Department were honored with university awards at the Provost’s Award Banquet on May 3, 2023. MSE senior, Alex Greenhalgh, received the “Undergraduate Researcher of the Year” award. MSE Assistant Professor, Dr. Katharine Page, received the well-deserved “Professional Promise in Research and Creative Achievement” award. MSE Professor, Dr. David Keffer received the “Undergraduate Researcher Mentor of the Year” award.

Congratulations to Alex, Kate & David for showcasing the excellent quality of research that arises from the collaborative work of undergraduates, graduate students and faculty in the Materials Science & Engineering Department at the University of Tennessee.

As an aside, we note that this year, Prof. Page was recognized for her research accomplishments at all three levels of the university, including in the department in the college and this Provost’s award at the university level. We dub this accomplishment the “University of Tennessee Research Triple Crown!” A special thanks to Prof. Page for her many contributions to the department.
