On June 28, 2023, students, faculty and staff of the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Department and the Materials Science and Engineering Department celebrated the careers of Doug Fielden and Larry Smith. Doug and Larry kept the machine shop in the basement of Dougherty Hall running for many years. Graduate and undergraduate students from both departments owe a debt of gratitude to these two for making their research a reality. We wish both of them well with their post-retirement plans and hope to see them back to help guide the machine shop to new leadership.
