MSE’s Cladek Awarded a DOE SCGSR Fellowship

Bernadette Cladek, a University of Tennessee PhD student in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, was awarded a fellowship from the DOE Office of Science Graduate Student Research (SCGSR) Program on a project titled, “Quantitative analysis of in situ neutron pair distribution function data using Reverse Monte Carlo methods for understanding guest-host interactions in CH4-CO2 hydrates”.  Bernadette is advised by Prof. Claudia Rawn.  Her research seeks to integrate state-of-the-art neutron scattering with high-performance computing in order to investigate materials with unprecedented fidelity.  Her work with hydrates has applications as a potential source of carbon-neutral natural gas.
