Raymond Wysmierski Receives TMS Acta Materialia Inc. Scholarship

The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society, TMS, awarded UTK MSE student Raymond Wysmierski its Acta Materialia Inc Undergraduate Scholarship. TMS awards two scholarships to undergrad students majoring in metallurgical engineering, materials science and engineering, or to students with a significant interest in the materials area. The scholarship presentation will be at the TMS-AIME Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, March 22 at the TMS 2023 Annual Meeting & Exhibition in San Diego, California. The award includes a financial scholarship, registration for the 2023 TMS meeting and travel support.

Raymond Wysmierski is a third year student at the University of Tennessee where he majors in materials science and engineering and works as an undergraduate research assistant in Prof. Hahn Choo’s laboratory. His desire to diversify his working experience and learn about the manufacture of metals, ceramics, and polymers has guided both his academic and professional career. In addition to his research position, Raymond has worked at American Nanotechnologies and Oak Ridge National Labs. Moreover, Raymond recently wrapped up a co-op term with Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indiana where he applied his engineering background to improve safety within the plant and eliminate nonessential costs.

Congratulations, Raymond!
