Daniel Rutstrom, a Graduate Research Assistant in the Materials Science & Engineering (MSE) department won first place in the NSS Student Paper Award for his presentation at the IEEE Nuclear Science Symposium and Medical Imaging Conference, held in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada from November 4-11, 2023. Daniel is the lead author of the presentation, “Development of Novel CsCI-based Ultrafast Scintillators”. Daniel’s research is performed as part of Prof. Mariya Zhuravleva’s group in the UTK Scintillation Materials Research Center. His talk was co-authored with Prof. Zhuravleva, Dr. Luis Stand, and Dr. Chuck Melcher at UTK and Dr. Maciej Kapusta at Siemens Medical Solutions.
